Every quarter Field Notes produces a limited edition run of its memo books. I know it's a bit late, but I want to quickly review the Field Notes Snowblind Edition before the end of the season. I've been using Field Notes brand memo books for years and have collected many of the limited edition offerings, but I am especially pleased with the Snowblind Edition.
The Snowblind has a silky white finish with glittery white lettering. The coloration is intended to resemble that of a blizzard. To the touch, the cover possesses the silkiest finish I've seen on a Field Notes memo. The cover must be directly exposed to bright sunlight in order to change color, so it will not change indoors. When the Snowblind is brought outside, the ultraviolet light and ink create a chemical reaction which changes the white cover to a beautiful light blue. The color change happens quickly. When returned to shade, it will fade to white in approximately two minutes. In my experience, taking the Snowblind outside on a dreary day will not produce the desired color change. The photos in this post are from a very bright day.
Penman's Final Remark
As a person who doesn't take notes outside often, I really don't get to see it change much, but I still love the silky smooth white finish on the cover. I own quite a few Field Notes limited editions, but the Snowblind is my favorite thus far.
