I've used poppin desk accessories in my office for the past few years and I'm absolutely impressed by their fresh and modern design. I love that these absolutely beautiful accessories are designed in NYC as well. Currently, on my desk lies poppin's "Grip Grass" and in my drawer lies a few accessory trays providing optimal organization.
I saw "The Main Attraction" while shopping for art supplies and the unique shiny barrel intrigued me. After a thorough investigation of the pen, I decided to give it a try. Why not for $15 bucks?! Sadly, after a few months of use, I'm extremely disappointed by this purchase. The pens heavy weight makes it extremely uncomfortable to write with for long periods of time. The pens chrome plated brass barrel is also too fat for my liking. My fingers begin to hurt after just one page of writing due to the lack of ergonomic design.
The Main Attraction comes packaged with a poppin ballpoint refill, which was extremely disappointing. The ink flow is not smooth, lines are not crisp, and the pen constantly blots and skips. Perhaps my refill was defective? After two days of using the poppin refill, I had to switch to the Schmidt Easy Flow 9000.
What will attract many people to this pen is the magnetic top and bottom. The magnet is fairly strong, so you will have to give the cap a good tug to remove from the pen. I believe the feature is a nice touch; however, I have seen better functioning magnetic caps on other pen models.
Would I buy "The Main Attraction" again? No, but this pen may work for you if you are looking for a shiny, low cost, and unique pen that accepts parker refills. Give it try and let me know what you think.
